A 55-foot-tall conifer will be strung with more than 16,000 multi-colored lights,
making it one of the tallest living Christmas trees in the county. A giant menorah
will be placed beside it. The menorah was specially hand-crafted for the event by
artisans at the Bernardo Winery.

Reception.
The lighting ceremony will feature the Rancho Bernardo High School Madrigals
under the direction of Director Lisa Friedrichs. They will present a program of
ecumenical music and close the program by inviting those attending to join in an
old-fashioned sing-along of popular holiday tunes played by RB’s musical maestro
Jack Mitchell.
“This is our third year to hold the holiday lighting ceremony and the attendance
grows each year,” said Toni Kraft, President of the Rancho Bernardo Business
Association, which sponsors the annual event. Several hundred persons are
expected to attend.
A joint invocation will be delivered by Rabbi Goldstein of the Congregation
Chabad and Msgr. Dennis L. Mikulanis, S.T.D., Pastor of San Rafael Catholic Church.
Prior to the lighting ceremony Santa Claus will be on hand inside the bank from
3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. to hear the wish lists of children.
“This is the first year we have had Santa Claus join us and we expect families
with young children will appreciate the convenience of a short drive to visit with
him,” said Larry McIntyre, Co-Chairman of the event.
