Over 100 holiday-spirited members and guests attended the RBBA's
2nd Annual Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighhting and Reception.
And what a wonderfully festive time it was. Much thanks goes to our host
Steve Riddle, who provided the perfect setting at RB's San Diego National Bank
and to Marty Judge, RBBA
board member, who originated
the idea of a Christmas Tree
and Menorah lighting event.
Food was plentiful and
provided by the best of our
local restaurants including
Athens Market Cafe, Bernard'O
Restaurant, Cafe Merlot,
El Pollo Loco, Mr. Charlie's
Fortune Cookie and Yanni's
Bistro.
5th District City Councilman Brian Maienschein emceed the program and
introduced San Diego Fire Chief Tracy Jarman who officially ordered the lighting
of the tree and Menorah. Firefighters from RB's Fire Station 33 were also
introduced. Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein of Congregation Chabad and Msgr. Dennis
Mikulanis of San Rafael Catholic Church gave invocations. Marty Judge gave a
champagne toast to the firefighters andcaroling music was performed by the
Rancho Bernardo High School Madrigals led by Director Lisa Friedrick. Mr. Music
Rancho Bernardo,Jack Mitchell, played holiday music on his trumpet.
The Rancho Bernardo Historical Society and Melvie Maigaard of Gift Basket
Express displayed their wares. Door prizes were given by LaVerne Beck of Fresh
Air Focus and Beverly Merrill and Associates gave tickets to the Press Club's
holiday event and a Press Club membership.
