If you haven't
been to our newest Rancho Bernardo hotel, than you have missed a treat. It was
a beautiful summer night to hold an outdoor RBBA Reception on the patio and
there was no shortage of wonderful food to enjoy
including Stuffed Mushrooms Rockefeller, Crab
Wontons, BBQ Beef Short Ribs, Teriyaki Chicken
Skewers, Vegetable Kabobs Marinated in a
Balsamic Glaze, Sesame Marinated Cucumbers, Citrus-Berry Spinach Salad,
Orange-Ginger Marmalade Fruit Salad, Cheese and Crackers, Fudge Brownies
and at the bar, besides the usual beer and wine, Summertime Berry Sangria was
also offered and very popular I might add.

The really good news is The Hilton Garden Inn
is open to the public for breakfast and Dinner.
Meriah Druliner, Hilton's Food and Beverage
Manager tells me they are planning a new menu
and special evenings with live music. Sounds like
a new place to hang. Make your reservations soon.

The RBBA is teaming up with
the RB Social Club to co-host a
45th birthday party for Rancho
Bernardo. The entire community
is invited to an old-fashioned
picnic in Webb Park from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 8.

San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders and County Supervisor Pam Slater-Price will
read proclamations commemorating RB’s 45th year. The two elected officials
will then seal a time capsule containing the winning essays titled “What Rancho
Bernardo Will Be Like in 2050,” and winners of the photo contest titled “How My
Camera Sees RB.” The time capsule will be opened in 2050. Hot dogs, hamburgers, and roasted chicken, as well as wine and beer, will be served. The RBBA Chairman
is Bill Chaffin and the Social Club Chairman is Doug Stanfield. City Councilman
Brian Maienschein will be the master of ceremonies.

The event costs $20 per person, with children under 6 free. It is designed to break even but any profit will be donated to help renovate the RB Fire Station. Checks should be made out to the RB Business Association and mailed to 11519 Caminito Corriente, San Diego, CA 92128 by September 1. For additional information call Doug Stanfield at 385-9404.

"Savour Rancho Bernardo", the RBBA's first and hopefully annual food tasting
and musical festivity planned for Sunday, October7th, 1PM to 4PM. To date this
event will feature some of Rancho Bernardo's most elegant restaurants including
Bernard'O Restaurant, The Barrel Room, Cafe Merlot, Rancho Bernardo Inn, Mr.
Charlie's Fortune Cookie, Carvers Steaks and Chops, and French Market Grille.
The plan is for participants to hop from restaurant to restaurant savouring
culinary specialties from each establishment. Sounds like a lot of fun and the
bargain of the year at $25 per person not including beverages.
